It’s another break from our league campaign on Saturday, when we visit Grantham Town in the FA Trophy following our great three pointer at Coventry on Tuesday night.
With the injury list growing, it was good to see debuts for Harvey Smith and Brad Lathall, but hopefully skipper Hamza Bencherif will be fit for to rejoin the squad.
Our hosts had their first league win of the season on Tuesday, beating our Bank Holiday opponents Loughborough Students 4-2 away.
Newly promoted via the United Counties League last season, Grantham were relegated from the Northern Premier League in 21/22. We drew 1-1 with them at the Meres, with a Stuart Beavon goal and then 2-2 in the return, with goals from Ben Radcliffe and George Milner.
But back in October 2021 we paid them a visit in the FA Trophy too and came away with a 0-1 defeat.

Second choice keeper is Bermudan Under 17 international Ayleal Dill. He was signed a couple of weeks ago from Hucknall Town, having previously been at Ilkeston.

Centre back and captain Michael Jacklin came from Grimsby Borough at the start of last season. He started out with Brigg Town and then spent three years at Lincoln Utd, before returning after a year at Gainsborough. Loughborough Dynamo and Corby Town were his next stops, before a brief return to Lincoln Utd preceded his move to Grimsby in July 2024.
Wing back Alex Roberts has come through the clubs reserve side and has become a regular goal scorer, after debuting last season.
Former Notts County youngster Connor Bartle returned to our hosts in pre-season from Stamford, having played for the Gingerbreads pre-covid. He’s also played for Basford, Carlton and Bourne Town.
Andrew Wright is well known to Mickleover fans, having spent almost three years with us. A no nonsense attacking midfielder, he started out at Lincoln City and had his first stop at Grantham in 2017. Coalville and Matlock were his next stops, before a short return to Grantham preceded his Mickleover arrival.
He then joined Gainsborough but started 23/24 back at Matlock. After an initial loan he then joined long Eaton Utd, before making his Grantham return last September.
Central midfield Will Langford is a pre-season signing from Boston Utd. He was previously on loan for much of last season.
Harry Wood is another central midfielder who came from Doncaster Rovers Academy. He first joined the Gingerbreads on loan in 2024 and also played for Boston Utd and Brighouse.
Bradley Munns plays in central midfield and returned to the club initially on a dual registration in October 2025, after leaving to join Belper Town seven months earlier. He’s also played for Stamford.
