Ex Blues Defender Joins Sports

Mickleover have signed former Birmingham City defender Lewis Cunningham and gave him a short sharp debut in last Saturday’s win at home to Nuneaton Borough, before he went off injured after 15 minutes.

A former Manchester City Youth player, the 21 year old has also played for Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers and York City.

Bowman Signs

Mickleover have added midfielder Matty Bowman to their squad, after he signed from Basford towards the end of last week.

The 22 year old has also played for Scarborough and Dunfermline Athletic and represented England Independent Schools during his time at Repton.

He debuted for sports on Tuesday night at right back, in the way defat at Ketering.

Ryley Joins For A Month

Teenaged midfielder Kian Ryley has arrived at the Don Amott Arena on a month’s loan from National League North side Solihull Moors.

A graduate of their own Academy, Kian broke into the first team squad towards the end f last season, after spending a month on loan at Hereford Utd.

 

Pollard Moves On

Goalkeeper Jim Pollard has recently moved onto Northern Counties East League side Rossington Main.

A pre-season signing from Matlock Town, Pollard’s appearances have been restricted to FA Cup and FA Trophy games, due to the form of first choice Oli Bosworth.

Everyone at the Don Amott Arena wishes Jim well in his future career.

Chettle Back For Sports

Midfielder Callum Chettle has rejoined Southern Premier League Central table toppers Mickleover, after a short spell at Nuneaton.

Chettle came to Mickleover at the start of last season, but his appearances were restricted firstly by a hamstring injury and then a back injury.

“It was so frustrating with the injuries last season, I was only really fit a again for the last few games. But is wasn’t working out at Nuneaton, so I am glad to be back at Mickleover and have a month to prove myself,” he said, after making a second half substitute appearance in the 2-1 win at Barwell.
