by Peter Scherer

Seven points clear at the top of the table, Mickleover now head to AFC Telford on Tuesday evening to aim for eight in a row.

Our hosts AFC Telford were relegated from the National League North at the end of last season and have had a mixed start this season too.

They started with a 3-0 win over Royston and hammered Nuneaton 7-0, but more recently had 0-0 at home to Halesowen and lost 0-1 in the FA Cup to Coalville Town. A 1-1 at Redditch had been their only point so far away from home, until last Saturdays 3-2 win at St.Ives, moving them up to eighth in the table.

Manager Kevin Wilkin was a striker with Cambridge City, Northampton Town, Nuneaton and Grantham, before becoming Nuneaton’s manager in 2006.

After eight seasons he moved onto Wrexham, but after 18 months of his two-year contract he moved to Brackley Town, winning the 2018 FA Trophy. He has been in charge at Telford since October last year.
